Nobody knows exactly where this honky home boy come from. He just sort of showed up one day and started singin' bout all kinds of things that everybody could relate to. Willie say that he got his musical startin' at the age of 16 when he was in the 4th grade. He tried out for the elementaty school band and wanted to play the trumpet so he could run off and join the Tijuana Brass. But the band director said his mouth wasn't shaped right to play the trumpet so he handed Willie some drumsticks and told him to beat on something. That's when Willie beat the shit out of the band director....thus ending his classical music career!

It wasn't long after that he was working at a club called the Little New Orleans as a bouncer where he picked up a guitar and started playin' it like he had seen all the soul brothers doing. When the brother that owned the guitar came back in the club off his break, he beat the shit out of Willie.

But it was too late. Willie done had the fever. And like they say the rest be history.
